Is There Hope To Save a Marriage?
Visit any marriage or divorce related forum and you will find this question asked. When you are living in the middle of turmoil, it is sometimes hard to see a solution. But, the answer to this question is in most cases, yes there is hope to save a marriage.
Many problems in a marriage, stem from either bad communication or no communication. Because of this many times one person in the marriage is totally blindsided when the other person mentions divorce.
Let me give you an example. Say a wife, we’ll call her Laura needs more alone time with her husband than she is getting. Maybe her husband, we’ll call him Mike, has a job that requires a lot of overtime and he also has hobbies that Laura does not participate in, that he enjoys on his days off.
Instead of talking to Mike and telling him she would like for them to try to spend some time together, Laura hopes that Mike will realize her needs on his on and she becomes angry and resentful when he doesn’t.
By the time Laura finally tells Mike what is going on with her, she is furious with him and he doesn’t even know why. What should have been a small discussion turns into a huge argument. Mike didn’t even know there was a problem and to Laura the problem was huge. Laura and Mike, had what many couples in troubled marriages have; a simple lack of communication, that escalated way out of control.
This scenario was made up, but I promise you the same thing happens in homes everywhere all the time. A small problem is not addressed and before you know it you have a huge problem on your hands.
Have you let small problems in your marriage simmer until you are ready to explode? Even if your marriage problems have become huge, there is still hope to save a marriage if you get help to solve the problems.
