How to Reduce Stress While Trying to Save Your Marriage

Are you stressed out from dealing with the problems in your marriage? On of the most difficult things to do is trying to be happy when your marriage is failing. These ten tips will help you cope with possible divorce, while taking care of yourself.

  1. Take things one day at a time . Don’t dwell on what happened yesterday, you can’t change it. Don’t worry about what tomorrow might bring, by worrying about tomorrow you are wasting today. Have you heard the saying do what comes next? That is really good advice. Think about it, focus on now, today and just do what comes next.

  2. Find someone you trust to talk to . Talking with someone else about your marriage problems sometimes allows you to find options and solutions you would not have thought of on your own. It also allows you to get worries off your mind by simply giving them a voice and getting the thoughts out of your head. I would suggest that this person not be a family member. Much of what you need to talk about right now is saving your marriage and sometimes, even if you are able to let go and forgive your spouse for anything that may have hurt you, your family members may not be able to forgive. So, a trusted friend is a much better confidante than a family member.

  3. Journaling is another good way of getting negative thoughts out of your head. Just write what you are feeling and let it go. You may be surprised how much this can help.

  4. Don’t forget that you need to eat right to stay healthy . Most people deal with food and stress in one of two ways; by eating too much, or by not eating. Neither of these options are especially healthy so you need to make a consious effort to eat healthy.

  5. Another way to stay healthy even though you are stressed is to get some exercise . If regular exercise is not already a part of your lifestyle, I would suggest that you begin some type of exercise program. Exercise boosts endorphin levels in the body that in turn reduce your stress level and make you feel better.

  6. Do something special for you, pamper yourself . Get a pedicure, a massage, or maybe find a local day spa and treat yourself to a full day of pampering. Go to your favorite bath and body products store and treat yourself to your favorite products. Treat yourself to an afternoon at a ballgame or a night at a concert. You get the idea, you know what you like, just for one day, pamper yourself.

  7. Laugh . I know that you may feel like you don’t have much to laugh about right now, but the old saying laughter is the best medicine is really true. Laughter like exercise creates endorphins that make you feel better. Read a funny book, rent a funny movie whatever it takes to get you laughting, do it.

  8. Keep your regular routine. This may seem to contradict some of my other suggestions , but what I mean is don’t become a hermit. Many times when we are stressed out it is easier to just skip things that are not really necessary.

  9. Try to make all your thought positive ones , especially the thoughts of your spouse and your marriage. Think back to when you two first met and all the good times you had together. Create a positive scenario that you can replay in your mind anytime you find the negativity creeping in.

Focus on the positive. Thoughts of how to save your marriage fill you mind, and can make you think that your life is full of negatives. Many studies suggest that our thoughts control our reality.

  10. Keep the faith . Things will get better, believe it. Follow these tips for keeping your stress level down and click the following link and sign up for the free email course on how to Save Your Mariage Today.
